When Does the Turnaround Begin?

Your 4–5 week turnaround begins after you approve the final production artwork, not when the order is placed. Production artwork is typically prepared and sent for approval within 24 hours.

Custom PVC production involves more than simply manufacturing the patch. Every order goes through artwork review, production setup, color matching, finishing, adhesive application, inspection, and quality control before it ships. That process takes time, and we’d rather give you a realistic timeline upfront than rush production and compromise the finished product.

What is the minimum order?
The minimum order is 50 custom PVC patches utilizing ONE design per order.

What kind of file do I need to submit?
To experience no delay with your order, the file must be a true vector logo, which includes AI (Adobe Illustrator), EPS (Encapsulated PostScript), SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) or a vector PDF (not a normal PDF created from the conversion of a JPEG to a PDF- one that still holds the mathematical formulas used to create a scalable graphic image). Are there mold or setup fees?
No. This 50-piece package includes zero mold fees.

Will I receive a proof before production?
Yes. You’ll receive a production mockup confirming the design, dimensions, colors, and spelling before manufacturing begins. Production artwork is typically prepared within 24 hours.

Can you match specific brand colors?

What backing is applied?
American-made Lone Star Adhesive is applied in-house before inspection and shipment.

When does the 4–5 week turnaround begin?

Does free or rush shipping apply?
No. These patches ship from a partner maker, so they do not qualify for LoneStar Adhesive’s free-shipping thresholds. A separate shipping charge may apply, and the standard Rush Shipping upgrade does not shorten production time.

Does Durra-Bull even work on PVC patches?
Beautifully. Durra-Bull is suitable for adding a heat-activated adhesive backing to PVC patches. PVC requires a different final application process than leatherette or embroidered patches, so follow the PVC-specific instructions below.

How do I apply a PVC patch with a hat press?

1. Turn off the upper heated platen, if using a dual heated platen hat press.
2. Pre-press the headwear at 300°F for 10–15 seconds.
3. Position the patch and hold in place for 3–5 seconds, just until the adhesive becomes tacky.
4. Cover the patch and hat crown with a silicone pad.
5. Press for 15–20 seconds using light pressure.
6. If using a single heated platen hat press: Repeat the 15–20 second press two or three times if needed. Allow the patch to cool between presses to preserve the design.
7. Let everything cool completely to room temperature before testing the bond.

Why is my PVC patch peeling off?
The most common issues are insufficient heat reaching the adhesive, testing the patch before it has cooled, or using the general material settings instead of the PVC-specific process. Confirm that you preheated the item, slightly warmed the patch, used light pressure with a silicone pad, and allowed the finished item to cool to room temperature.

Do I need a heat gun or warming pad?
Not necessarily. Some single-platen users find it helpful to gently pre-warm the adhesive (after it has been applied to the PVC patch) with a heat gun or a low-temperature warming pad, but this is an optional troubleshooting technique.

How do I prevent excess adhesive around a PVC patch?
For the cleanest result, laser-cut the adhesive approximately 0.05 inch smaller than the patch before applying it. If the adhesive is already attached, carefully trim the excess with a sharp razor blade.
